“Jolly” row hits Old Malden Councillor

"all Kevin cares about is new developments" - Cllr Mary Clark

Kevin Davis - Conservative Councillor for Old Malden and Leader of Kingston Council last year shocked local people when he flew off to Cannes in the South of France to attend an international property conference - a trip paid for by the council taxpayer. He met London developers in France.

Stung by the criticism, our local councillor has ensured that this year’s trip to the French Riviera for the same developers’ shindig is paid for by local developers instead.

Old Malden’s Independent Councillor, Mary Clark, commented: “Kevin Davis has shown time and again that he does not have the best interests of Old Malden residents at heart. I believe all he cares about is new developments.”

Kingston Borough has received a large number of development applications since 2014 - including many for high rise blocks in Kingston town centre and Tolworth.

Kingston Council’s new planning policy for New Malden allows for ten-storey buildings.

“Even though times are tough, Cllr Davis is spending £4 million on a new council programme called “Kingston Futures” designed to promote “growth”, said local Lib Dem Ian McDonald.
