Election statement 2014
I have lived in the Borough of Kingston since 1986 and moved to Norbiton in 1990. I know my local area well. My professional background is in town planning and regeneration. Since originally working for a London Borough, I worked as a planning consultant and have had many enjoyable years working for a variety of public and private sector clients, including Kingston Council.
Recently, I have done less consultancy work and engaged in a wider range of activities particularly local history and working as a volunteer in Richmond Park in various capacities. I am a Friend of Richmond Park and do plantation clearance. I provide advice to the Royal Parks on traffic management issues and am on the Parks Police Panel.
Over the last couple of years I have been an active member of Norbiton Village Residents Association seeking to achieve improvements in our local area. This has involved campaigning to prevent poor quality and inappropriate development proposals such as Kingston Plaza, on Coombe Road, extended delivery and trading hours at ASDA on London Road and late night activity on the decking at Momtaz. I have recently lodged an application to place the cottages at station Road on the Local List of buildings of townscape merit, and at the Neighbourhood Committee on 2nd April this application was approved.
I look forward to the opportunity of working even more effectively to achieve widespread environmental, townscape and local facilities improvements throughout Norbiton Ward.
