Broad Oaks is a private access road behind Tolworth Broadway, and local residents are not happy with the state it is in.

Broad Oaks has been neglected by the land owners for a long time and has become a serious health and safety issue for the local residents, passers-by and especially children.

People who live in Broad Oaks claim fly-tipping is so bad, they can’t park and are finding the dumped waste a health hazard.

The issue was highlighted on national TV, when ITV covered Broad Oaks in their documentary on fly tipping in October 2015.

Tolworth and Hook Rise councillors over the years have supported a community led clean-up with the help of neighbourhood rangers. A provisional date for clean-up this year is planned for 6th March 2016.

We have launched a petition calling upon the leader of the Royal Borough of Kingston to take the necessary steps to put pressure on the private landlords to clean up and maintain the area, prevent further fly-tipping and ensure that the access to properties are made safe.

I am concerned about the hazardous state of the Broad Oaks access road behind Tolworth Broadway. This private access road and the stairs leading to the top flats have long been neglected by the land owners. They have deteriorated to a level which may lead to serious health and safety implication for the local residents, passers-by and especially children.

I call upon the leader of the Royal Borough of Kingston to take the necessary steps to put pressure on the private landlords to clear up and maintain the area, prevent further fly-tipping and ensure that the access to properties are made safe.
