By-election result

Sadly, Lesley Heap did not win the council seat in the by-election. The result in full was:

Conservative: 1033 votes
Lesley Heap, Liberal Democrat: 760 votes
Labour: 717 votes
UKIP: 223 votes
Green: 207 votes

Leader of the Council, Cllr Liz Green, said

"I am disappointed that Lesley did not win. The unique circumstances that caused this by-election meant many of our supporters felt uneasy voting for the Liberal Democrats.

"Lesley was a superb candidate and will continue to campaign for the residents of Beverley ward. We will work even harder to restore residents’ trust in us.

"I would like to thank all of our supporters in Beverley ward for voting for Lesley, and all the Lib Dems who came from far and wide to help."
