Home burglaries have risen 44% in the borough in just one year, as Conservative police cuts bite. Local MP Ed Davey is campaigning for more bobbies on the beat.

Following a spate of recent burglaries - particularly along the A3 - the Focus team is demanding action. They have called a summit meeting between the local police commander, Ed Davey MP and local residents to try to tackle the upsurge in local burglaries and car crime.

Lib Dem campaigner Sam Foulder-Hughes explained, "Thieves are targeting properties near the A3, because they can identify homes where people are out, burgle them and make a quick getaway. Our police are stretched because of Conservative police cuts - in 2015 our borough had 320 police officers, now it has 266. We must stop these cuts and give the police a chance to fight this opportunist crime."
