There will be a public meeting about the Filter Beds planning application on Thursday 8th November 2012 at 8pm (refreshments from 7.30pm) at St Andrew's and St Mark's Junior School on Maple Road.
Edward Davey says:
"I've issued a statement declaring that I am opposed to this planning application and support the Friends of Seething Wells. I feel that it is right that I make myself available to residents to explain why I believe that and allow them to ask me questions. This meeting gives a direct opportunity to do that.
Obviously any constituent can also write or email or visit me at one of my twice weekly advice surgeries as well.
This land is vitally important to Surbiton and the wider community and I want all residents to understand the issues so they can form their own view and feed into the Council planning process."
Cllr Liz Green, Deputy Leader of Kingston Council and St Mark's Ward Councillor, says:
"Lots of information has come out from both the potential developer and the Friends of Seething Wells, much of it is technical on planning considerations. This meeting gives an opportunity for residents to find out more, but more importantly to allow them to ask questions so they can respond to the planning application. I don't think this application meets the 'very special circumstances' to build on Metropolitan Open Land and feel it's important that the wider community understands the detremental effect it will have on the area."
The Friends of seething Wells have set up this webpage with details about the application.
