Kingston Station

Focus should be on connectivity rather than cosmetics

As a link with both the Kingston station scheme and the river and the Wheatfield Way scheme on the other side, the Kingston station scheme is an important part of the network of routes that will allow people on bikes both to reach the station and to traverse Kingston.

A cycle hub with plenty of easily accessible secure parking will really send the message that Kingston is serious about cycling.

This could be a very good scheme as long as spending on ‘public realm’ is kept reasonable – the mini Hollands’ funding is for ‘facilities…that encourage people to cycle, after all. There needs to be an entrance on the west side of the station so that people arriving on foot or on bikes can easily access the station.
