Improvements to Ancient Marketplace

Chrissie Hitchcock

Last year, Lib Dem Councillors in Grove ward took the initiative to make further improvements to the ancient Kingston Market Place.

Recent improvements have seen the removal of traffic, the installation of the very popular fountain and a greater variety of stalls and events throughout the year.

Many local people have asked for further upgrades and we are now looking at ways to improve the layout, appearance and access for residents, shoppers and traders. The project will cover the Market Place itself together with the stalls and Market House; and the areas around it including the river, the church and Union Street.

Voted the 2nd Best Shopping Street in Britain, by Google Street View, we want
to continue the regeneration of the marketplace and ensure it becomes the best!

You can find more information about the plans on-line.
