Breaking - Canbury Business Park application withdrawn

CNM Estates have withdrawn their controversial planning application to build a 14-storey tower block on the site of Canbury Business Park.

This retreat follows intense local opposition to the plans.  Residents in neighbouring streets felt the tower block was too high for the area and many were appalled that the plan included very little provision for affordable housing. It would also have required the re-siting of a school.

Visitor scratch cards to stay!

Conservative councillors at Kingston Council performed a dramatic U-turn last week, backing down on the abolition of paper parking visitor scratch cards in the face of a large Lib Dem petition and residents' concerns.

Zain Abbas (pictured above) added, 'I would like to thank everyone who signed the petition and showed that local voices can make a real difference.'

North Kingston Lib Dems Canbury Business Park Response

Yesterday evening, North Kingston Liberal Democrats submitted our response to the plans to development Canbury Business Park.

In summary, we support the need for housing in Kingston, however we can not support the plans currently set out by the application as they are unsuitable and out of keeping with the prevailing character of the area.
