Temporary victory as Kingston Hospital puts brakes on disabled parking charges

Earlier this week, Kingston Hospital agreed to “pause” its decision to charge blue badge holders for using their car park.

The move comes after more than 2,900 Kingston residents signed a Liberal Democrat petition calling for the charges to be dropped.

“We are delighted that Kingston Hospital has decided to review the changes,” said Councillor Olly Wehring. “We want to thank Kingston's residents for supporting our demand.”

The pause has been introduced while the hospital undertakes a review of the matter. Residents can give their opinion directly to the hospital by filling in this survey, which closes on 10 June.

“The fight isn't over yet,” added Olly, who was recently elected as a councillor for Norbiton ward. “We continue to call for the charges for blue badge holders to be scrapped altogether.”
