Local Liberal Democrats have backed The Environment Trust’s efforts to restore The Raeburn Open Space Nature Reserve

The site suffers from neglect including recreational drug use and chronic litter issues.

The Trust will spend £168,000 over the next three years enhancing river habitat, creating wetland habitat, and improving under-managed woodland.

Local activist John Sweeney is helping the Trust engage with the local community and mobilise a volunteer workforce.

John added, “This is great news for Berrylands and by getting our young people excited and involved in this project we will build a nature reserve we can be proud of.”
