Born and brought up in Hounslow, I moved to Surbiton 25 years ago. Educated at state run schools, I went on to study mathematics and graduated in 1976. Using my mathematical abilities I worked in the actuarial profession for sixteen years before making a complete career change to that of self employed tradesman. I find the mix of work enjoyable and am able to work and stay motivated either working alone or sometimes as part of a team with other tradesmen or women.
I was an assistant Scout Leader for many years and took an active part in helping to organise activities and camps etc. Married to Annette, I have two children who are both at The Hollyfield School. Throughout their time at Grand Avenue Primary (and even since) I was an active member of the Parents’ Association helping to organise events and taking a key role in maintaining and trying to redevelop the swimming pool there.
As a Liberal Democrat councillor I would apply a commonsense approach to working with other councillors and officers and represent all the residents of Surbiton Hill fairly and to the best of my abilities. On a Borough wide scale I will work to continue the improvements that the Liberal Democrats have already put in place.
I relax and keep fit by swimming regularly and have recently been taking ballroom and Latin dance lessons, my sense of humour and humility just about compensating for my lack of ability in the latter!
