I am currently Co-Chair of Surbiton Neighbourhood Committee and have represented St. Marks Ward in Surbiton since 2002. I was recognised with an MBE in this 2010’s Queen’s New Year’s Honours List for my services to local government and community relations.

I have lived in Surbiton/Berrylands for over 42 years, and been a Liberal Democrat member since 1992. I’ve been married for 33 years, with a 30 year old son, who is a Councillor in Berrylands Ward.

Some of the organisations which I have worked with in my time of as a community activist and Kingston councillor include: Kingston Council (Elected 2002 – present, Mayor 2005-06); Kingston Tamil School (Founder); Kingston Racial Equality Council (Former Chair and Vice Chair); Special Olympics Surrey (Chair); Surbiton Rotary Club (Member); Victim Support Kingston (Trustee); Surrey Lankians Cricket Club (Chair).
