Clean Bus Zone at Eden Street

The Leader of Kingston Council, Liz Green, has been lobbying Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, to accelerate the pace that Transport for London (TfL) rolls out clean buses. However, the Mayor of London's website says:

“In central London, all double-deck buses will be hybrid by 2019, and all single-deck buses will emit zero exhaust emissions by 2020. By 2037 at the latest, all 9,200 buses across London will be zero emission.”

Older buses emit NO2 and particulates that can cause long-term damage to our health, and Kingston Town Centre is one of the most polluted areas in London. It is unfair that the London Mayor is prioritising central London only, and 2037 is far too long to wait for clean air for Kingston residents. Ask Sadiq Khan to prioritise Kingston for clean buses.

“I call on the Labour London Mayor to introduce a new Low Emission Bus Zone at Eden Street in Kingston to help tackle Kingston's lethal toxic air.”
