Chessington residents ignored over threat to Epsom Hospital

Chessington Lib Dem Councillor Tricia Bamford: "Epsom is our hospital too!"

Chessington residents have been left out of a major consultation over the future of Epsom Hospital, sparking an angry response from local residents.

Key health services including A&E and intensive care are under threat at Epsom Hospital in new plans currently under consideration. While many people across Chessington and Malden Rushett use the hospital, they are being ignored and are not set to be consulted.

Local Liberal Democrat councillor Rachel Reid said: "I had two of my children at Epsom and like many see Epsom as our local
hospital. I’m angry enough that they are thinking of closing the service. I’m livid that they aren’t bothering to ask Chessington residents our views.”

Chessington Liberal Democrat councillors have teamed up with local MP, Ed Davey, to send in a formal objection on behalf of local people.
