Your Liberal Democrat Councillors are calling on residents to help set up a community group for Churchfields Recreation Ground — “Friends of Churchfields”.
A very successful inaugural event took place late last year in which your Liberal Democrat Councillors and the local residents planted medium-sized trees in Churchfields. (read the report here)
The Liberal Democrat Councillors secured those trees through a project, run by the Mayor of London, to make neighbourhoods greener, and to increase biodiversity and reduce pollution.
Councillor Andreas Kirsch said: “A big thank you to all those who came to help plant new trees in Churchfields — 50 were planted! In order to improve our Recreation Ground, we are now planning to set up a community group, Friends of Churchfields.”
"Churchfields is at the heart of our community in Chessington South, and many residents benefit from it. A Friends’ group will help the community to care for Churchfields, and enables us to improve it."
The first meeting is already planned for Wednesday 16th January at St Mary's Church Hall.
If you love Churchfields, and are interested in improving our park, please take part in setting up the Friends' group by contacting Andreas Kirsch
