Lib Dem leader Cllr Liz Green and the borough’s police commander, Superintendent Glenn Tunstall, took City Hall Tories on a town centre tour this week, showing them first-hand how Lib Dems in Kingston are making us the safest borough in London.
Lib Dems, working as part of the Safer Kingston Partnership, have helped deliver a 12.5% cut in crime this year alone. The Safer Kingston Partnership includes the council and emergency services, who work alongside businesses and voluntary organisations to reduce crime across Kingston and Surbiton.
Liberal Democrat leader Cllr Liz Green said:
“We’ve worked hard with residents and businesses over many years to ensure crime remains low and keeps going down year on year.
“This makes families feel safer both at home and on our high streets, protecting our residents and supporting local shops to build a stronger local economy.
“City Hall Conservatives are trying to put all that at risk with cuts to our police services, so they can deliver a paltry 7p council tax cut.
“Only the Lib Dems in Kingston will protect our police services to ensure we remain the safest borough in London and help us build a stronger local economy.”
- Kingston Lib Dems are leading from the front, delivering a 12.5% cut in crime in the last year, retaining Kingston’s hard won status as having the lowest crime in London.
- Under the Lib Dem administration Kingston town centre has consistently won the Purple Flag award for being safe and welcoming at night.
- In 2011, under the Lib Dems, the council’s CCTV control centre came top in the UK with an award for excellence from the National CCTV Users Group. The centre works with the police and local business, operating 133 closed circuit TV cameras to help keep the borough safe.
