Massive win as Lidl is rejected

Local Lib Dem Cllrs have rejected Lidl's application to build a supermarket in quiet residential Manorgate Road.

Lib Dem Councillors have rejected Lidl's planning application in Canbury.

After listening to both sides at committee, Lib Dem Councillor for Canbury Ward, Caroline Kerr, led the argument against the development, and spoke in support of nearly 400 residents who had objected to the plans.

She warned the new store would cause gridlock on Kingston Hill, and it would have an appalling impact on the Homezone at Manorgate Road.

Lucy Pollard from local residents’ group MACRA (Manorgate Road And Carlisle Close Residents Association) said ‘Everyone is feeling elated that Councillors really listened to us and did the right thing’.
