Works are set to start on improving accessibility to Chessington South station after years of campaigning by local Lib Dem Councillors, with the support of residents.
A contractor has been appointed to deliver the scheme which will help those with disabilities, the elderly and those with small children to access the station platform quickly and easily.
Work needs to completed by the end of March to comply with funding agreements so it is expected that the works will be completed swiftly.
Local Councillor, Tricia Bamford, said, “I am delighted a contractor has been appointed and works will start in the next few weeks. Delivering an accessible entrance to Chessington South station has been a long campaign, and thanks go to all the local community partners who have worked with us to achieve this.”
