Kingston Council has given the green light to a new development in New Malden where EVERY new home will be available for affordable rent*
37 brand-new affordable flats will be built on Kingston Road, New Malden, on the site of a former NHS clinic which has been lying derelict and empty for several years.
“I am delighted that we continue to be able to deliver on one our key manifesto pledges of building new, affordable homes for our borough”, says Patricia Bamford, Chair of the Development Control Committee. “Building much needed affordable homes will support people to continue to live in areas like New Malden.”
“Labour’s London Mayor says that half of all homes in new developments should be affordable - we’re going even further with this development, ensuring that 100% of the new homes are affordable.”
The development will also include 4 wheelchair-friendly homes.
*For 1 and 2 bed properties the rent will not be more than 80% of market rent or Local Housing Allowance (whichever is lower). For anything larger, the rent will not be more than 65% of market rent or L.H.A. (whichever is lower).
