Liberal Democrats have approved the expansion of Burlington Junior School in New Malden
The move by Lib Dem-run Kingston Council will see the school expand from four-form entry to five, starting in September 2022, increasing admission numbers from 120 to 150.
It will also see the replacement of the school's main building — built in the 1960s — which is reaching the end of its design life.
This is to accommodate redevelopment plans for Cocks Crescent, which could add an estimated 1,000 residents to the local catchment area by 2026.
This is superb news for Kingston's children, giving more children the opportunity for a good education, showing that Kingston Lib Dems are keeping up with the growing demand for local schools.
Diane White, Lib Dem Schools spokesperson, said: “I am delighted that the Lib Dems on Kingston Council have taken the decision to replace the old school building, and increase the number of places at this very popular school.
“The expansion of Burlington Junior School will allow more local children to access the school, and provide an exceptional learning environment.”
