Pupils protest at Kingston schools cuts

Students from 5 schools make education campaign video

Local pupils have come together to protest against cuts to their education.

Following on from Kingston’s headteachers opposition to the Conservative-run Council’s attempt to cut vital funds to schools, students from Hollyfield, The Kingston Academy, Holy Cross, Richard Challoner and Coombe Girls have taken the initiative to defend their futures and produced a poignant online video.

Kingston Council’s education budget was in a £2 million surplus 4 years ago, under the Liberal Democrats. After four years of Conservative incompetence, it’s now a £12 million deficit, the worst in London.

Lib Dem campaigner, Sarah Olney, added, “The students video is excellent, it is just a shame they felt compelled to make it.”

“Conservative Ministers and Conservative bosses at Kingston Council have failed to protect our children’s future.”
